Diego Llorente to jet into Spain within hours after new Leeds United transfer updates

Diego Llorente looks set to travel to Spain within hours for a medical ahead of a move from Leeds United to Real Betis, according to ABC.

The Spanish outlet has reported (7 July) that a deal for the Spaniard to return to La Liga is now “very close”.

This report has been contrasted by the Yorkshire Evening Post (5 July) who have suggested that the Whites have rejected any bid for Llorente.

Diego Llorente could leave Leeds United for Real Betis

With the varying reports regarding the Spaniard, it is unclear whether or not he will be on the move this summer.

After spending last season on loan with Roma, following Leeds’ relegation, it feels unlikely that Llorente wants to play Championship football.

This could see the 30-year-old look to force through a move, with it appearing that European football is a demand for the defender.

In his three Premier League campaigns at Elland Road, the former Real Madrid man was a positive option in the backline for the Whites.

There is no doubt that he would be one of the best defenders in the division if he remained at Leeds in the second tier.

If Llorente doesn’t see his future with the Whites then a move away makes sense for all parties with a transfer fee being needed.

This could help Daniel Farke bring in additional defensive reinforcements after already bringing in Joe Rodon permanently this summer.
