Diego Llorente exit news emerges at Leeds United with £2.9m deal in the pipeline

Roma want to sign Diego Llorente on loan but Leeds United could look to move him on a permanent deal this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

After Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League they may look to sell the Spaniard to bring some transfer funds in and deal with financial issues.

The Italian outlet reported in its print edition [6 June, page 16] that Roma are keen on re-signing the defender on loan, but the Whites may have a preference to now cut ties with him permanently.

They could look to get £2.9million from the Serie A outfit this summer despite their financial problems, which could see him become their only signing.

Leeds United could sell Diego Llorente in summer transfer window

After failing to win against Southampton at Wembley, a second season in the Championship was frustratingly confirmed.

This led to reports suggesting that the Whites would be forced to sell up to £100m worth of talent to deal with financial problems.

As a result, the sale of key figures like Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Wilfried Gnonto has felt inevitable from Leeds’ perspective.

The incoming investment from Red Bull has eased some of the concerns but sales of some assets this summer are still going to be necessary.

Selling players who have spent the season away from Elland Road could prove to be a useful option for Daniel Farke’s side to bring funds in.

Llorente spent last season with Roma and having spent the rest of his career with the likes of Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, he isn’t going to want a season in the Championship on his CV.

If a bid comes in from Roma that satisfies the Leeds hierarchy then a permanent move could prove ideal for both parties.
