Diego Llorente agrees four-year deal to quit Leeds United – Fabrizio Romano
Real Betis and Leeds United have agreed a deal for the transfer of Diego Llorente, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported via X on Sunday (7 July) that the defender has agreed on a four-year deal with the La Liga side, dropping his famous “Here we go”.
Llorente will now return to Spain after his time on loan in Italy with AS Roma.
Leeds will receive a £2.5million fee for the player who was wanted by many clubs, but convinced by Betis’ project.
Leeds United defender Diego Llorente set to quit Elland Road and join Real Betis
There will be plenty of supporters who won’t believe a transfer is complete until it has been officially announced by the two clubs involved.
However, a Romano “Here we go” can usually be considered as good as a confirmation. Therefore, it looks as if Llorente can effectively be considered a Real Betis player.
This is a delightful bit of business for the Whites as they bank a tidy bit of money for a player who hasn’t kicked a ball at Elland Road in more or less 18 months.
It was clear that the Spaniard had no future in West Yorkshire, and Daniel Farke is unlikely to be too bothered about him leaving.
Leeds proved last season that they don’t need Llorente to make a promotion push.
In addition, as a result of Joe Rodon making his stay at Elland Road permanent, the need for Llorente decreased even further.
Therefore this seems like a good bit of business for everybody involved.
