Dharmesh Sheth details twist in Leeds bid to sign Rodrigo after medical passed

Leeds United are yet to discuss personal terms with Valencia striker Rodrigo, according to Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Rodrigo, 29, passed a medical in Valencia on Wednesday morning while accompanied by a member of the Leeds hierarchy [Mundo Deportivo] ahead of what Victor Orta has confirmed to be a club-record transfer.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the transfer could cost Leeds up to £35.8million.

Although Leeds and Valencia have reached an agreement and Rodrigo has undergone a medical, Sheth has reported that the player is yet to actually agree his own terms with Leeds.

“What a coup for Leeds United, they’ve agreed a deal with Valencia for the signing of striker Rodrigo,” Sheth said on Wednesday night, as shown on Sky Sports’ website.

“The player is yet to discuss personal terms.”

It’s unlikely that this is going to be an issue for Leeds because why else would Rodrigo have a medical and fly to London?

The Spain international is clearly intent on signing for the Whites and we doubt that it will be too difficult for the newly-promoted Premier League club to agree personal terms with him because they will know already what kind of offer he is expecting.

Leeds fans have seen transfers fall apart at the last minute; everyone remembers what happened with Daniel James.

But we don’t see that happening here.

Orta told the Spanish press after Rodrigo’s medical that all three parties are very happy with the transfer.

It is now a matter of when and not if Leeds sign Rodrigo and smash their 20-year-old transfer record.

Valencia have already confirmed the agreement between the clubs and we expect to see Rodrigo presented as a Leeds United player very soon.
