Derby want to sign Joe Gelhardt as Leeds United approaches made
Leeds United will loan out Joe Gelhardt before the end of the month, according to Darren Witcoop.
The newspaper journalist reported via his personal X account on Sunday morning (5 January) that “several” Championship clubs are keen on signing the 22-year-old centre-forward.
At the end of his update, Witcoop suggests that the clubs keen on Gelhardt are Portsmouth, QPR, Cardiff, Derby and Plymouth.
It is understood that the former Wigan striker has also been the subject of approaches from abroad and he’s now considering his next move.
Who will Leeds outcast Joe Gelhardt sign for?
It ultimately seems as though Gelhardt will be allowed to choose where he wants to go.
The Liverpool-born striker is someone who joined Leeds in 2020 to a lot of excitement.
And the initial signs were good with him performing brilliantly in the Premier League for a spell.
However, since relegation and the appointment of Daniel Farke as manager, Gelhardt has fallen off the radar completely and his appearance on the bench on Saturday for the 3-3 draw with Hull was his first matchday call-up since 26 October.

Gelhardt has played just twice this season in the Championship and his only start saw him shoved out wide in the 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Middlesbrough back in August.
He’s not really been treated great in recent years so a fresh start is needed.
Maybe a move abroad will suit him well?
