Deal close: Leeds midfielder edges towards temp exit – reliable journalist

Huddersfield are “close” to signing midfielder Robbie Gotts on loan from Leeds United, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Since Carlos Corberan was appointed in charge of the Terriers after a successful spell as Leeds’ Under-23s manager, the Championship club has been linked with some of the Whites’ younger players.

Gotts made two appearances last season and made Marcelo Bielsa’s matchday squad 21 times in the Championship.

Nixon’s tweet on his personal Twitter account on Sunday suggests that Gotts is on the verge of joining Huddersfield to continue his development in the second-tier while Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals are also keen on taking Pascal Struijk on loan.

Corberan’s move to Huddersfield was always going to be met with speculation linking him with some of Leeds’ best Under-23s players.

Gotts is clearly someone who Bielsa rates with the Argentine regularly calling him up to his first-team last season as Leeds won promotion to the Premier League.

He even got to start against Arsenal in the FA Cup, which just shows how much Bielsa thinks of the 20-year-old.

In December, Bielsa admitted he felt guilty about not handing Gotts as many minutes on the pitch as he should have done.

But this loan move to Huddersfield should help out a lot.

As for Struijk, we don’t see why Leeds should loan him out just yet.

Struijk plays at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder and as Liam Cooper is the only available senior centre-back, Struijk could be needed in the Premier League next season.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared an update on speculation linking Rodrigo with the club.
