Darko Gyabi arrives in Leeds to complete Leeds United transfer – Phil Hay
Manchester City midfielder Darko Gyabi has arrived in Leeds to complete his move to Leeds United, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday morning (1 July), Hay reported that Gyabi, 18, will start finalising his move to Elland Road while Kalvin Phillips is going the other way to Man City.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claims that Gyabi will be undergoing a medical on Friday.
Deal all but done
Leeds seem to be very close to their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca have already arrived to join Jesse Marsch’s first-team squad at Elland Road but it sure seems as though Gyabi is going to move to the Under-23s.
Gyabi played just 10 times for Man City’s Under-23s in Premier League 2 last season.
He’s also been capped twice by England’s Under-18s and is able to play as a central midfielder or a holding player in front of the defence.

Born in London, Gyabi started his career at Millwall.
Ex-Lions boss Neil Harris said in 2018, as quoted on LeedsLive, that Gyabi is “an exceptional young player”.
For him to be signed by Man City at a young age and play for their successful Under-23s team suggests that Harris was correct.
And now Victor Orta and his scouts clearly see something in the teenage midfielder too.
We’re not going to expect fireworks from him at Elland Road but we will be keeping one eye on the youngster’s progress.
We wish him all the best and welcome to Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has named two players who the Whites would love to sign.
