Daniel Farke’s true feelings on Leeds United deadline day emerges

Leeds were not as active as many hoped they would be on deadline day.

The Elland Road side brought in Facundo Buonanotte and Leonard Ngenge earlier in the transfer window.

However, they still wanted upgrades or competition in several other positions, most notably the left side of defence and striker.

Daniel Farke‘s side were unable to add any more new faces to their squad on the last day of the market.

What does Daniel Farke think about Leeds’ deadline day?

Leeds’ interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen was well documented, but he ended up moving to Crystal Palace instead of LS11.

That was the most prominent potential deal for the Whites that could have happened, but Farke is still happy with what his side have despite no additions before the deadline.

A report from The Athletic on 3 February claims that the manager is content with how the window went and that the right profile did not come to light, especially in the left-back area.

Why Leeds may regret a lack of business

Leeds’ lack of business is a huge risk, given what is at stake in the second half of the campaign.

If they have a poor run of form, they could find themselves in danger of going down to the Championship next season.

The Peacocks are currently six points above West Ham, who occupy the final relegation spot in the Premier League table, with 14 matches left to play.

If the Yorkshire side had brought in further depth, they may have felt a lot more comfortable about their chances of staying in the division.

Strand Larsen, in particular, would have been a brilliant addition, as he profiles similarly to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

However, signing players just for sake of having extra bodies in not a viable recruitment strategy for the 49ers Enterprises group, and the decision not to panic, could prove to be a masterclass, as long as the Peacocks stay up.

If they do not, a lack of spending this month will look disastrous, but the financial impacts with Profit and Sustainability are another consideration.

Leeds are understood to be sailing close to the margins on that front, and the long-term health of the club must come before anything else, it is as simple as that.
