Daniel Farke wants to seal bargain Danilho Doekhi transfer now as Leeds timeline revealed

Danilho Doehki is emerging as a strong target for Leeds United.

Leeds United are yet to do any January business, despite knowing how important it could be to their chances of avoiding relegation.

The Whites have been linked with several players from across Europe as Daniel Farke eyes more reinforcements to improve their chances of staying in the league.

Doehki has been heavily linked with a move to Leeds in recent weeks, with a new update emerging on his future.

Doekhi’s intentions revealed amid Leeds interest

Sebastian Bornauw has been linked with an exit from Leeds, and if that were to happen, it would leave the Whites in desperate need of another centre-back.

However, even if he remains at Elland Road, it’s believed that Farke wants to add another centre back to his squad, which makes sense given the switch to a back five in recent weeks.

It’s now been reported by Florian Plettenberg that Farke wants to bring Doekhi to Elland Road no later than the summer, which is when his contract at Union Berlin expires.

The Sky Sports journalist has reiterated Doekhi’s stance on his future, with the defender intending to quit the Bundesliga by the summer transfer window.

Leeds will be able to sign him on a free, with pre-contract agreements eligible now, though a move in January could be on the cards for a potential bargain fee with Farke keen on an early agreement.

Doekhi has been a target for Farke since 2021

Farke wanted to sign Doehki when he was in charge of Norwich City back in 2021, when the defender was playing and impressing for Dutch outfit Vitesse.

Of course, that deal failed to materialise, and Doekhi has since gone on to establish himself as a reliable Bundesliga defender at Union Berlin, just one year after that interest.

So far this season, the 27-year-old has scored five goals from centre back, showcasing his aerial presence and dominance in both boxes.

Via FotMob, he has won 69 per cent of his aerial duels, which was something that Leeds prioritised heavily in the summer transfer window, and will no doubt continue to do so given the success it has brought them in the Premier League.
