Daniel Farke to solve all of Leeds’ problems with ‘remarkable’ two-in-one Ayase Ueda

Leeds United have been told Ayase Ueda is the man to solve all of their problems in the January transfer window.

Ueda has been in incredible form for Feyenoord this season as he has scored 18 goals in 15 Eredivisie games to top the goalscoring charts.

The Japan international scores a variety of goals and has strengths beyond just scoring goals for the Dutch side.

Leeds need to bring in a new goalscorer in January, even if there has been a vast improvement in recent games.

And European football expert Andy Brassell believes Ueda could be the ideal player for Leeds heading into the second half of the campaign.

Feyenoord would be tempted by Leeds offer for Ayase Ueda

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has stood up of late for Leeds after a slow start to his Elland Road career, but Leeds cannot rest on their laurels.

Leeds are still among the lowest scorers in the Premier League with 19 goals so far, which does need improving on.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Thursday, Brassell specifically mentioned Leeds as being a suitable destination for Ueda as early as next month.

“I wonder if a bottom-half Premier League team has a dart for him next summer or maybe even as early as January, depending on where they’re at,” Brassell said.

“He’s kind of got Leeds written all over him. There’s a lot to like about them, but where are the guys putting it in the back of the net?

“There are big question marks over the sustainability over the period of a season for both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

“If you’re Feyenoord and a Premier League club come in with a proper offer, I think it’s quite hard to say no. “However ambitious Robin van Persie is, I think a big offer tempts you.”

Ueda has two-and-a-half years remaining on the deal he signed with Feyenoord upon joining in 2023, with the Dutch side paying around £9.1million to sign him from Cercle Brugge.

Ueda outscoring Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and everyone else

While he may not exactly be a household name just yet, Ueda is the top goalscorer across European football right now.

Ueda has 18 Eredivisie goals, which compares to 17 goals for Harry Kane in Bundesliga, 16 for Kylian Mbappe in LaLiga, 15 for Erling Haaland in the Premier League and seven for Christian Pulisic in Serie A.

“What’s remarkable about him is that he scores lots of different types of goals. He has got that presence in the box,” Brassell added.

“If you look at his height, you wouldn’t say this is a guy who’s going to get a third of his goals in the air. But he is a really, really good dominator of those central spaces.

“He’s a really good header of the ball, as well as being able to get behind and run behind. So he’s almost like two strikers in one, really.”

Players transferring talents across from Eredivisie to the Premier League can be hit and miss, of course, but Ueda certainly sounds like the real deal on the face of it.

The Japanese striker played under Arne Slot at Feyenoord and, while his career did not really take off under the Dutchman, he is now in the form of his life.

Leeds have already been linked with numerous players pre-January, but if Ueda really is two for the price of one up top, then he may just be Daniel Farke’s man.
