Daniel Farke shares exciting Calvert-Lewin plan ahead of Leeds United vs Everton
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to become Leeds United’s eighth signing of the summer.
News broke on Wednesday that Leeds had agreed a deal to sign Calvert-Lewin.
The Leeds-bound striker is a free agent after leaving Everton this summer upon the expiration of his contract on Merseyside.
And now, Daniel Farke has provided an official update on the situation.
Calvert-Lewin to be part of Leeds squad following Farke update
Leeds will host Everton at Elland Road on Monday, 18 August, as they return to the Premier League.
Plenty of supporters will have been wondering whether Calvert-Lewin would arrive in West Yorkshire in time to potentially line up against his former side.
And Farke has now issued an update on when the striker will make his move to Elland Road official.
Speaking to the media ahead of the clash with the Toffees, Farke said: “He (Calvert-Lewin) will be a member of our squad from this afternoon.

“Dominic is a really good age and is proven in the Premier League. He has scored nearly 60 goals at this level. He has all the skills you would like your striker to have.”
As a result, it seems as though the 28-year-old could be available to face his former side, provided that Leeds get everything registered in time.
However, it was Farke’s next comments which will have excited the Elland Road faithful more, as Calvert-Lewin’s injury record was addressed.
The German continued: “(Calvert-Lewin’s) last few seasons were interrupted by injuries, but he played 26 games last season. He can reach former heights. We will build his fitness step by step and build his confidence.”
Calvert-Lewin has a lot to prove at Leeds
Farke’s comments certainly make for exciting reading at Elland Road. However, words are one thing; actions are another.
Calvert-Lewin’s record in recent seasons has been patchy, to say the least.
- Calvert-Lewin scored 16 Premier League goals for Everton in the 2020/21 season
- However, the Englishman has only managed 17 goals in total in the four Premier League campaigns since then, combined
There is no doubt that Calvert-Lewin has the potential to score goals and become a popular figure at Elland Road. However, it is going to take a lot of work to keep the frontman fit and firing.
Luckily, it seems as though Farke is aware of the challenge which lies ahead.
