Daniel Farke ready for two new transfers at Leeds United already after bid

Daniel Farke wants to add at least another midfielder and full-back to his squad before the 30 August transfer deadline, according to The Athletic.

The outlet reported on 30 July that despite their initial £3.4million bid for Dejan Ljubicic being rejected, the West Yorkshire outfit remains interested in acquiring the Koln midfielder.

The report also adds that despite Jayden Bogle’s arrival, another full-back is wanted to help alleviate the pressure off current options.

Leeds’ midfield was always going to need some work after the sale of Archie Gray. Whilst the 18-year-old didn’t play in his natural role too often, he was arguably one of the club’s best choices in defensive midfield.

Glen Kamara’s exit didn’t help matters much either but for the fee the club received, it’s clear why they wanted to sell up.

As well as covering the midfield role, Gray was the Whites’ first-choice right-back for the vast majority of the season with Sam Byram covering.

This was all well and good but the fact that Byram had to cover both the left and right-hand side of defence meant that if any injuries occurred, the West Yorkshire outfit had no other options.

Of all the areas in Leeds’ squad and especially since Joe Rodon has returned, the two previously mentioned positions of full-back and midfield are by far the most important areas for the club to bolster.

Only time will tell if this comes to fruition, but, if it does, then Farke’s squad will find themselves in a much stronger position.

In other Leeds news, Illan Meslier has admitted that he was ‘surprised’ by what Daniel Farke did in pre-season.
