Daniel Farke makes new January transfer admission at Leeds United

Daniel Farke admits he cannot rule out making a marquee signing for Leeds United in the January transfer window.

The Whites have had a strong start to this season and have found themselves competing at the top end of the Championship table with an opportunity to go top again this weekend if they beat Derby County at Elland on Saturday (7 December).

However, there is still plenty of the season remaining and, having lost their game against Blackburn last weekend, Farke’s side has shown that there is still work to be done if they are going to return to the Premier League this year.

With the January transfer window creeping closer, Farke has not ruled out transfer movement as when asked if he was ruling out a marquee signing in his pre-match press conference, he said in quotes reported via Leeds Live (5 December): “No. In general, I have done this long enough that anything can happen and you cannot rule anything out.

“In the summer, I never expected so many changes in the squad. It’s a while until the window opens. I don’t want to talk too much about it before January with eight games to go.”

The right addition could lead to Leeds United promotion

Ahead of the second half of the season, Farke will be keen to make sure he has the strongest squad available to him in order to maintain their momentum until the end of the season with promotion the goal at Elland Road.

The Whites have been linked with a number of transfers in January and you can certainly see the boss being backed by the owners as his side’s form so far this campaign has shown that he is a manager who can certainly take the team back to the top flight.

That being said, you can understand why the German is keen not to say too much right now. With a number of games to come ahead of the January transfer window, this could change who is available to him for the rest of the campaign and, in turn, change the priorities for his Whites side.

What is for sure is that Farke will only make a big signing if he feels it is necessary for the success of his side. Regardless of the headlines any signings bring in, if the 48-year-old can get the business right, it will be an exciting end to the campaign at Elland Road.
