Daniel Farke has glaring Leeds United concern as £15m transfer to have consequences
Lucas Perri may have a hard time displacing Karl Darlow after Leeds United beat Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Marco Silva’s team were beaten at Elland Road, with Lukas Nmecha’s 91st-minute strike securing the three points for the Whites.
Farke has publicly criticised Perri recently, leading to the Wales international being reinstated in the starting lineup.
The 35-year-old did the same towards the end of last season after Ilan Meslier’s erratic displays, and that may not bode well for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Leeds United to have Lucas Perri dilemma in summer transfer window
Perri’s relegation in the pecking order at Leeds may have long-term consequences, Beren Cross says.
The Athletic journalist believes the Brazilian goalkeeper’s situation could become a concern for the Whites in the summer if he can’t find his feet at Elland Road.
Last summer, the former Olympique Lyon shot-stopper moved to West Yorkshire for more than £15million, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
Writing in The Athletic on 19 January, Cross said, “The more glaring concern, perhaps for the summer, is Perri. After committing to a package worth more than £15m and a four-year contract for the Brazilian last summer, relegating him to second choice in the long term will have consequences.”
Meslier has become a bit-part player at Elland Road ever since he was removed from the starting lineup, and a similar fate may await Perri.
If the 28-year-old Brazil national can’t live up to expectations at the Peacocks, then they could possibly have to cut their losses sooner rather than later and find a new goalkeeper again.
Daniel Farke has one undroppable after win vs Fulham
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been exceptional under Farke, but the striker has scored only one goal in his last four Premier League games.
With the England international not at his best in recent weeks, it’s been Brenden Aaronson who has taken centre stage at Leeds.

The USMNT star has put in some brilliant performances for the West Yorkshire outfit and was once again the arguable Man of the Match against Fulham.
Aaronson’s energy and creativity in the final third have shone, leaving Facundo Buonanotte and other attacking players with a considerable task to displace the American ace from the starting lineup in LS11.
