Daniel Farke wants four signings made at Leeds United as Georginio Rutter exits to Brighton

Daniel Farke now wants four Leeds United signings before the transfer deadline as Georginio Rutter leaves, according to The Athletic.

Nancy Froston reported via the outlet’s website on 16 August that with the French star’s departure to Brighton an attacking midfielder or number 10 to replace him is now on the list.

The Whites boss already wanted a new winger to replace the last star to depart, Crysencio Summerville to West Ham, as well as a central midfielder where he has lost the services of both Archie Gray and Glen Kamara.

Although he has signed Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United the German coach also requires a second full-back in at Elland Road.

Bogle may have filled the big gap left at right-back last term where Gray spent most of his breakout debut campaign but the Leeds United squad is currently looking significantly weaker than it did when Southampton beat them to promotion through the play offs.

A general assumption that this year won’t see as many teams produce incredible seasons as last doesn’t mean the Whites have a clear path to stroll back to the Premier League.

Two games into the season, neither won and with six goals conceded, ought to have proven that the club are now taking a major risk.

Last summer was chaotic as the club saw relegation compounded by a protracted sale from Andrea Radrizzani to the 49ers, a new manager search, and an exodus of release clause departures before they were able to strengthen.

Without that they may have been back in the Premier League by now but instead they are already starring down another season of trying to make up for lost time with the list incoming requirements only getting longer.

The 49ers can point the finger at Radrizzani and Victor Orta all they like over the past fees that were left payable this summer and the exit clauses that have now seen the big three stars of last term all leave, and would be justified in doing do.

But they also should have known fully well what the situation was heading into this summer and planned accordingly, and as things stand it doesn’t look like they have.

They are currently chasing Jonathan Rowe from Norwich City and should be in the box seat to bring the winger in [Santi Aouna, 13 August], with Million Manhoef a back-up option from Stoke [TEAMtalk, 14 August].

Other targets such as Hammarby striker Jusef Erabi [Marc Mechenoua, 16 August] are also belatedly emerging, but the team are now at The Hawthorns for the latest game of the new season, with the deadline rapidly approaching, and surely should have sewn things up long ago.

In other Leeds United news, there are doubts over another senior player’s commitment amid suspicions he could also leave.
