Crystal Palace ready move to sign Leeds-linked midfielder Adam Wharton as £15m Blackburn news emerges
Crystal Palace are preparing a £15m move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton after Leeds were priced out of a move, according to Alan Nixon.
Writing on his Patreon account (24 January), the journalist reports that the Premier League side are set to test the water for the Championship ace with a big-money bid.
Leeds were linked with a move for the talented youngster during the summer but according to Nixon they “couldn’t get near the money” needed to sign him and he now looks to be heading elsewhere.
Issues
These are the problems that come with relegation, and Leeds United know them all too well right now clearly.
The transfer window in the summer was littered with players leaving the club because they wanted to be playing in the top flight rather than in the Championship, and the club had to be creative with signings to replace them.
January has been equally difficult, and it’s even harder when there are Premier League clubs circling for the same players that the club want at Elland Road.

The Whites can’t compete with Crystal Palace financially right now, but should the club earn promotion to the top flight at the end of the season and a deal is still there to be done in the summer then it’s a different story.
It makes sense that Palace would try and get ahead of the competition for some of the Championship’s top talent considering their best players now are Ebere Eze and Michael Olise, so Leeds may need to re-strategise now.
