Crystal Palace now want ‘special’ Leeds United target to replace Eberechi Eze

Leeds United will attempt to further bolster Daniel Farke’s options in the closing weeks of the transfer window.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin became the eighth player to arrive at Elland Road this summer, after an agreement was found to sign the striker on a free transfer.

But Leeds are not ready to stop there, and have been linked with a move for Leicester City defender James Justin, with talks reportedly advancing.

Farke’s side will kick off their Premier League season on Monday 18 August when they take on Everton at Elland Road.

Crystal Palace approach Leicester City over Bilal El Khannouss move

Leeds have been linked with a move for Leicester midfielder Bilal El Khannouss this summer.

Jermaine Beckford has described El Khannouss as ‘special’, with the Morocco international previously attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League.

El Khannouss was signed by Leicester just 12 months ago, arriving from Belgian side Genk in a deal worth around £21million.

Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle United have been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder, but it now appears that Crystal Palace have jumped the queue.

The Eagles had a £20m bid rejected by Leicester, Sacha Tavolieri reported on 16 August, who Oliver Glasner keen to replace the seemingly outgoing Eberechi Eze.

Palace are planning to complete the move for El Khannouss in the coming days, with the player green lighting the move.

What alternatives are out there for Leeds United?

With a move for El Khannouss now looking increasingly unlikely, Leeds must quickly shift to an alternative target.

Brentford midfielder Fabio Carvalho could be an interesting option, with the 22-year-old often struggling for minutes in the Premier League last season.

Carvalho enjoyed a superb breakthrough for Liverpool following his move from Fulham, but has struggled to realise his potential so far at Brentford.

Leeds could provide him with a more prominent role, and a fresh start in the Premier League.
