Crystal Palace chasing Archie Gray as Leeds United could be forced to sell

Premier League side Crystal Palace are on “red alert” in their chase for Leeds United starlet Archie Gray, as the Yorkshire side may have to sell if they don’t achieve promotion, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist shared via his Patreon page on 24 September that the Premier League outfit plan to be at the front of the queue for Gray if Leeds are forced to cash in as they look to add to their midfield options.

It is also shared that Palace view Gray as an alternative to Blackburn midfielder Adam Wharton who may prove too pricy for the Eagles, with the Leeds man proving he could play a part in their side.

Promotion will be key to hanging on to star players

It’s not just Gray who will be attracting attention from some of England’s top clubs this summer. If Leeds fail in their bid for promotion at the first time of asking, there are a number of stars at Elland Road who could be considered good enough for top-flight football.

Palace’s interest in Gray will come as no surprise to fans of the Eagles, with their recent transfer strategy focused on bringing in some of the Championship’s top young talent and giving them space to develop with regular football.

This has been seen with the progress made by the likes of Marc Guehi, Ebere Eze and Michael Olise, each of whom arrived at Selhurst Park after impressing in the second division.

At Leeds, though, they will be desperate to hang on to a player who, at just 17 years old, has stepped effortlessly into their first team and secured his place as a regular player and a key part of Daniel Farke’s plans.

The hope at the club will be that he can cement his place at Elland Road for the foreseeable future and help bring Leeds back to where they feel they belong – in the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, one journalist has shared what Daniel Farke did at half-time against Watford.
