Crysencio Summerville to sign contract to quit Leeds United within minutes as medical passed
Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville is set to sign a contract to quit Elland Road within minutes, according to Sean Whetstone.
Whetstone reported via the X account West Ham Football on Friday (2 August) that the Dutchman is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with West Ham United before 4pm today.
While no time has yet been revealed for an official announcement from either club, the 22-year-old appears to be set to call time on his tenure with the Whites after three seasons in the Leeds first team.
Daniel Farke’s side are expected to earn an initial fee in the region of £25million for the winger’s services, with further add-ons expected to push the value of the deal upwards of £30million [Last Word on Football, 1 August].
Will Crysencio Summerville exit Leeds United amid West Ham United transfer rumours?
Unfortunately, this has been coming for a while at Leeds United and while fans would have of course liked to keep Summerville for another season, he was always likely to move on when the Whites missed out on promotion.
Players like that don’t want to be and shouldn’t be playing in England’s second tier. The Dutchman is far too good for the Championship and while it has taken longer than expected, this move was inevitable.
Hopefully, Farke and his recruitment team will already have a list of targets up their sleeve to bolster their ranks as the start of the new Championship season draws closer. They cannot afford not to replace the Dutchman.
Whether or not those arrivals will be imminent remains to be seen but with Summerville set to put pen to paper in less than two hours, the Whites don’t have loads of time to waste.
The season may be just around the corner, but luckily, Leeds still have almost a whole month to add to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.
