Crysencio Summerville stance shared as Leeds United transfer twist emerges with Newcastle United interested

Crysencio Summerville has no desire to leave Leeds United in January despite Newcastle United showing interest, according to James Marshment.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (3 January), the editor of news outlet TEAMtalk was responding to reports that the Dutch winger has emerged as a target for the billionaire-owned Magpies this month.

But while the interest is said to be true, Marshment has shared that the player isn’t interested in leaving Elland Road mid-season having enjoyed the best season of his career to date under Daniel Farke.

“Newcastle United have a strong interest in signing Crysencio Summerville this month, but the Leeds United stance was, is and remains ‘not for sale’,” he wrote.

“Player also has no desire to move right now, having flourished under Farke at Elland Road.”

Thank God

Leeds United are in a tough battle for promotion down in the Championship right now, and if they have any aspirations of earning promotion then they can’t afford to lose their best players this month.

You’d be hard-pressed to find any Whites players that have been better than Summerville this season or more improtant to the way that Farke wants to play in an attacking sense, and that means he simply can’t be allowed to leave.

Obviously keeping these players at Elland Road is always easier said than done, especially when the mega-rich Premier League clubs come calling and start offering things we can’t.

But it seems as though Summerville has his feet firmly on the ground and the player knows that he is better served staying at Leeds for now to play regularly as the main man, and he could end up back in the Premier League anyway.

If not, then a summer exit would be almost guaranteed and Newcastle would surely come calling again, but for now the club must do everything they can to keep him.
