Crysencio Summerville expected to leave Leeds United after Wembley defeat – Phil Hay
Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave Leeds United this summer after their defeat in the playoff final, according to Phil Hay.
Writing on their website (26 May), The Athletic journalist reports that sales of certain players will be necessary for the club during the transfer window to balance the books and stay within the EFL’s financial limits.
Summerville is one of those expected to be sold, with Liverpool strongly linked with a move as new manager Arne Slot is a big fan, while Bayer Leverkusen are also said to hold an interest.
Leeds United fans must hope for 49ers to have a plan
Gaining promotion this season was seen by many as being non-negotiable for whoever came in as manager last season, and Daniel Farke has failed to deliver.
But in context he delivered a 90-point season and got to the playoff final, and only other crazy seasons running alongside them have prevented promotion.
That can’t have been accounted for, and the fact the squad crumbled at the business end of the campaign is a worry, but Farke is clearly the right man for the job.

He will now have to go again without some of his better players because that is the nature of the beast. Players like Summerville are too good for the Championship, and the interest is too heavy to ignore.
But replacing him will be key and finding more performances like this season will be necessary to get back to the top flight 12 months later than planned.
