Contact made for Darko Gyabi as Leeds United transfer news emerges from Phil Hay
Leeds United have received interest in midfielder Darko Gyabi, but he is not on their list of players they want to exit the club this summer as he could play a part for them, according to Phil Hay in The Athletic.
The report details that Leeds were able to fend off interest in the midfielder when they signed him from Manchester City last year, and have turned down enquiries from abroad this summer already, while loan bids notably from West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday were rebuffed in January.
The midfielder featured once in each competition Leeds played in last season – the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup – but failed to make his mark on the squad despite training with the first team. Hay now reports it could be his time to shine.

Gyabi and other Leeds youngsters can stake their claim
Gyabi was brought to the club from Manchester City last year but failed to make the same impression his former teammate Romeo Lavia did at Southampton. With Leeds going down, and space opening up in midfield, pre-season could present a chance for Gyabi to stake his claim.
The midfielder is described as “mobile, physically capable and neat in possession, a ball-winner” and could be a ready-made solution to Leeds’ midfield struggles.

Farke has also previously shown a willingness to blood young talent, with names such as Tod Cantwell, Max Aarons, Oliver Skipp and Billy Gilmour all featuring in his Norwich side (with the latter two names on loan).
It is also shared in The Athletic that other Leeds United youngsters might find their places in the first team following their relegation to the Championship, with names like Cody Drameh and Charlie Cresswell potentially seeing a way in, despite recent loans.
