Cody Drameh Leeds United exit ‘inevitable’, expected before pre-season
Cody Drameh is expected to leave Leeds United on a permanent transfer this summer before pre-season begins, according to Yorkshire Evening Post.
The 21-year-old has spent the second half of the season on loan with Luton Town, pushing them into contention for the playoffs with eight clean sheets in 12 appearances at right-back.
But with just 12 months remaining on his contract at Elland Road once he returns this summer, it’s believed he is set to leave the club as he wants to be first-choice right-back and cannot get those assurances at Leeds.

“The club, though, have a job on their hands convincing the 21-year-old to stay, as anything short of elevating him to first-choice right-back is understood to be insufficient in persuading him that his future lies at Elland Road,” they wrote (13 April).
“The YEP understands that with 12 months remaining on his contract, an end to Drameh’s time as a Leeds player is somewhat inevitable, with noises from the player’s camp signalling a permanent exit is on the cards before pre-season begins this summer.”
Awful
There is no reason why Drameh shouldn’t be in the conversation to become the first-choice right-back at the club next season, even if we are in the Premier League.
Luke Ayling’s form this season hasn’t been anywhere near good enough, while Rasmus Kristensen has struggled to make the position his own since his move from Salzburg last summer.

Meanwhile Drameh has impressed massively in the Championship in two separate loan spells, proving he is ready to step up to the Premier League and potentially allow one of the two current options to leave.
Ultimately Drameh has to do what is right for him and play regularly, whether that is at Elland Road or elsewhere. But the club are making a horrible mistake by potentially letting him leave.
Any fee is likely to be a cut-price because of his contract situation, and the club will then need to replace Ayling in the near future. It’s just a mess.
