Chelsea watch Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville as half-price update emerges
Chelsea want to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds this summer as a potential alternative to Michael Olise, according to Ben Jacobs.
Writing in his column for Simon Phillips’ Substack (3 June), the journalist reports that the Blues want to add a winger to their squad and are pushing for the Crystal Palace star but his complicated release clause is worth between £60-65m.
That has seen some attentions turn to Summerville, who Maresca is a big fan of (2 June, Simon Phillips), with the belief that he could cost half the amount Olise would.
Leeds United face battle to keep Crysencio Summerville
As soon as the final whistle went at Wembley in the playoff final and the Whites were condemned to another season in the Championship, all attention turned to Elland Road exits.
Archie Gray has been heavily tipped to move on, and the other prime candidate for an exit was 22-year-old Summerville because of his spectacular form this season, with Phil Hay admitting that a sale was expected now.
But while Leeds would be hopeful of getting a true valuation for their star player despite being outside of the top flight, it makes it incredibly difficult.

Summerville has two years remaining on his deal at the club and unless he is willing to pen a new deal and commit himself for a longer period, then this summer is the last chance to cash in properly.
Any bid in excess of £30million is likely to get the 49ers’ attention, and if Chelsea make their move they will surely be more than winning to stump up that cash with their billionaire owners not being shy since arriving.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign an “unbelievable” striker with 51 goals in the last two seasons.
