Chelsea want to repeat Cole Palmer transfer trick with move for Leeds United star
Chelsea are said to be seeking the signature of Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United after the club’s failure to reach the Premier League, according to The Telegraph.
The report from Mike McGrath [28 May] stated that Chelsea are looking to repeat the trick that came off for them ever so well this season when they secured the £40million signing of Cole Palmer, with Summerville expected to command a fee of around £30m for play-off runners-up Leeds.
Summerville, 22, earned the Championship Player of the Season award in a superb individual year, but saw the campaign end on a bitter note with no Premier League football awaiting – meaning the Dutchman is likely to look elsewhere.
McGrath wrote: “Leeds United are braced for bids this summer for Crysencio Summerville after failing to secure Premier League promotion, with Chelsea among the clubs with an eye on the Dutch forward.
“Top-flight clubs are circling around Leeds’ talented players, knowing that losing in the play-offs is a financial blow, with Summerville expected to cost around £30m in the current market.
“At Chelsea, he is among the young talent they have looked at with the likes of Cole Palmer having moved to Stamford Bridge, following the arrival of the clubs new American owners.”
Where will Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville play next season?
Following Leeds United’s Wembley heartbreak on Sunday, most supporters at Elland Road are now resigned to believing Summerville has played his last game in a white shirt.
Chelsea’s likely incoming boss Enzo Maresca knows all about Summerville from Leeds’ league meetings with Leicester City in the Championship, and Liverpool are also credited with an interest in reuniting the forward with Arne Slot.
The next step in Summerville’s international career will naturally be a call-up to the Netherlands’ full squad should his form continue, although playing football outside of the top flight will have done him little favour in that regard.

An elegant player with a supreme confidence in his play and an aura that shows his faith in his own ability, it does indeed look likely that Leeds must switch their attention to receiving as much in fees as possible for their number 10 this summer.
