Charlie Cresswell expected to jet out of UK to finalise Leeds United exit

Charlie Cresswell is set to fly to France after his move from Leeds United to Toulouse was reignited and a deal was agreed, according to Nancy Froston.

The Athletic reporter has suggested (5 July) that the Englishman’s move to the Ligue 1 side is “back on” after previously halting.

A deal between the Whites and Toulouse was agreed earlier in the week and now the 21-year-old is “expected in France” to complete a transfer.

Charlie Cresswell to leave Leeds United for Toulouse

Daniel Farke isn’t messing around this summer and is clearly willing to sell players who don’t quite fit into his plans at Elland Road.

This has already seen Jamie Shackleton depart on a free transfer to Sheffield United after a season where he barely featured.

The story was similar for Cresswell who featured just seven times in all competitions last season [FotMob] despite injuries to other centre back options.

After a promising spell at Millwall, there was hope that the Englishman could prove to be a useful asset in the Leeds squad in the Championship.

This hasn’t been the case and now a departure from Elland Road seems to make the most sense for the better of his career.

The Whites do need a centre back this summer so selling Cresswell may be the makeweight in terms of transfer funds to bring new options in.

With Joe Rodon returning on a permanent deal, there was going to be a lack of opportunities for the 21-year-old next season and there is interest in him from France.

Cresswell looks set to get on a plane and jet off to sign a deal to play in Ligue 1 next season.
