Charlie Cresswell could exit Leeds United for Bundesliga on loan after Daniel Farke decision

Charlie Cresswell could be set to exit Leeds United on loan amid interest from Bundesliga clubs, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist reported on his Patreon on 6 August that German sides VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt are planning to check on the availability of the centre-back once the season gets underway.

He said the clubs could be poised to make a loan move for the 20-year-old if he doesn’t start for the Whites as they prepare to host Cardiff City at Elland Road today (6 August).

Makes no sense

This is a deal that surely wouldn’t make too much sense for Leeds unless the Bundesliga sides are willing to offer a decent loan fee to sign him.

The Whites academy product impressed on loan at Millwall last season, where he scored five goals in 28 games as the Lions pushed for a playoff place.

That showed he can cut it at Championship level and that he could be a decent option for Daniel Farke to call upon during the campaign following the departure of a number of key players already this summer.

The defender also signed a new four-year deal on 1 August, so surely the best thing to do would be to keep him around the club for the time being, even if he isn’t initially a starter.

If he isn’t getting into Leeds’ side in the Championship, then the chances of him playing on a regular basis in the Bundesliga are incredibly slim, but it will be interesting to see how this one pans out in the coming days.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites player could be heading for a move to the Premier League.
