Central midfielder arrives at Leeds to hook up with Corberan's Under-23s

16-year-old Swedish midfielder Nuha Jatta arrived for a trial at Leeds United on Tuesday, according to his current club GAIS.

They confirmed the news on their website in a short post that said Leeds had sent them an official invite for Jatta to train with Carlos Corberan and the Under-23s from Tuesday until next Monday.

GAIS pointed out that the 16-year-old was the first player born in 2003 to play senior football in Sweden.

He’s played four times for GAIS in the Superettan, the second tier of Swedish football. He’s started once for them.

GAIS are currently in 12th place of a 16-team league.

Jatta has also played for Sweden’s Under-17s six times this season.

Corberan’s Under-23s are on a great run at the moment, making it five wins in a row with a 5-1 victory over Bolton on Monday.

They’ve got one more game to play in 2019, away at Nottingham Forest on Friday. It will be interesting to see if Jatta gets a run.

He plays in central midfield, and from his 2019 stats Jatta has a pass accuracy of 83.2%, wins almost 60% of his aerial duels and makes almost four interceptions a game. [WyScout]

He looks big and strong for his age and holds the ball up well.

We’ll be watching out for him on Friday.
