Cameron Archer transfer: Southampton stance shared after Leeds United approach

Southampton are not expected to allow Cameron Archer to exit in the winter transfer window amid recent links with Leeds United, according to Leeds Live.

The online outlet reported via their website (30 January) that the Whites are set to “monitor the situation” until the 3 February deadline hits.

The report also adds that at the moment, the West Yorkshire outfit aren’t “raising their hopes” for the transfer due to the Saints’ current stance.

Cameron Archer would be an immense addition for Leeds United

Since before the winter transfer window even opened, Daniel Farke has played down talks of Leeds signing any new players.

The Whites have one of the strongest teams in the league at the moment with the West Yorkshire outfit sitting comfortably on top of the second-tier table.

However, one major thorn in their side this season has been the constant swapping of their focal point.

Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe have been the duo most often called upon by the German and even though both are being given equal chances, it still feels like a lot more could come from their strikers.

Archer may not have been in the best goal-scoring form this season but as has been shown by his previous spells in the Championship, he’s more than capable of holding his own.

And, it feels like if Leeds do end up singing him, he could help guarantee them promotion.
