Cameron Archer keen on Leeds United transfer as obstacle emerges

Southampton striker Cameron Archer is keen to join Leeds United, who will face an obstacle in their potential transfer pursuit.

The Whites wanted to bring Archer to Elland Road in the winter window but failed to sign him before the 3 February deadline.

Daniel Farke has relied on Joel Piroe for most of the season, with Mateo Joseph and Patrick Bamford failing to make a big enough mark.

With a new number nine evidently needed at the West Yorkshire outfit, an update has emerged regarding a deal for Archer.

Cameron Archer transfer fee an obstacle for Leeds United

Agreeing on a fee with Southampton for the 23-year-old forward will be the only obstacle for the Whites, according to TEAMtalk.

The new outlet reports (19 February) that the Englishman is eager to sign for the Peacocks if they choose to pursue him.

While Southampton were reluctant to sell Archer mid-season, the West Yorkshire outfit could get an opportunity if they are promoted and the Saints get relegated.

The 23-year-old’s ability to play as a number nine and on the left wing is attractive to Leeds.

Leeds United need more than Cameron Archer transfer

Bamford is attracting interest from Wrexham, making his future at Elland Road uncertain [Give Me Sport].

The 31-year-old is arguably in the final stretch of his career, and the consistent injuries haven’t helped the striker’s cause in West Yorkshire.

With the Englishman’s exit seemingly on the cards, the Whites should reinforce their attack in the upcoming transfer window.

While the 49ers Enterprises kept hold of Joseph in the winter transfer window, the Spaniard has failed to convince many fans this season.

As a result, the Peacocks will likely need multiple additions to their frontline in the coming months, especially if they’re promoted to the Premier League.

Farke will need much more quality at his disposal to have any chance of surviving the drop after returning to the English top flight.

While Archer is playing in the Premier League for Southampton, he hasn’t been more of a squad player as the Saints look destined to get relegated this season.

It will be interesting to see whether the West Yorkshire outfit will pursue the English forward next summer.
