Cambuur want to sign Leeds United defender Cody Drameh
Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is wanted by Dutch Eredivise club Cambuur, according to Andor Faber.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Monday night, the Omrop Fryslan journalist reported that Cambuur are targeting a move for the 19-year-old right-back.
However, it is understood that spanner could be thrown into the works of any potential deal after Drameh was named in Marcelo Bielsa’s matchday squad for the 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.
Drameh was an unused substitute but it seems the former Fulham youngster could stay at Leeds due to the likelihood of game-time in West Yorkshire.
Drameh is clearly in Bielsa’s plans after the 19-year-old made the Argentine’s bench at the weekend.
Luke Ayling is Bielsa’s undisputed first-choice right-back while the versatile Stuart Dallas is second-choice and Jamie Shackleton can also play there.
However, both Dallas and Shackleton may be needed in the midfield and especially Dallas performs a lot better in the central role.
Drameh is an out-and-out right-back who’s very attack-minded so keeping hold of him is important in case Ayling gets injured or suspended.
The London-born teenager is still waiting for his senior Leeds debut.
He’s made the bench for the senior squad on two occasions but he’s done well for Leeds’ Under-23s in Premier League 2.
With the Whites playing Crewe in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, there must be the possibility of Drameh getting some game-time.
If he doesn’t then he may well be keen on joining Cambuur because at least in the Netherlands he’ll be able to get guaranteed top-flight football.
In other Leeds United news, this loaned-out Leeds player suffered an absolute nightmare at the weekend.
