Callum O’Hare transfer update as long-term contract verdict emerges at Leeds United
Leeds United have shown no “concrete interest” in former Coventry man Callum O’Hare this summer, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live journalist reported on 5 July that he can see why people would link the 26-year-old with Leeds but no moves have been made as of yet.
Cross also outlined that it’s unlikely that the Whites would want to be tied down to a long-term deal for the attacker, especially if they gain promotion next season.
He wrote: “There’s been nothing concrete on O’Hare.
“I can see why people would link Leeds with him, but it’s not one I’ve heard given any credence yet. If Leeds win promotion next May, will they want to be saddled with O’Hare on a three-year contract when he almost certainly isn’t good enough to play in the Premier League?”
Why Leeds shouldn’t go in for Callum O’Hare this summer
Leeds’ attack is arguably one of their strongest areas on the pitch. Not only are the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto among their ranks but Daniel Farke also has Dan James and Georginio Rutter at his disposal.
And, unfortunately for O’Hare, he plays in similar positions to the quartet above and would be unlikely to get in ahead of them.
Although his 14 goals and assists last term are a fairly strong return, especially with the talent in Coventry City’s squad, he has yet to showcase his ability on a bigger stage. However, this hasn’t stopped Burnley from vying for his transfer [Graeme Bailey, 5 July].

O’Hare is only 26 years old so age is on his side, however, it also feels quite telling that no Premier League clubs have gone in for the attacker while he’s in his prime.
One thing the midfielder does have going for him is the fact that he’s a free agent. Should any of Leeds’ attackers depart such as Summerville [Ben Jacobs, 24 June], leaving a void to fill, Farke could look at the attacker as a ‘cheap’ option to replace them.
