Burnley want to sign Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville

Premier League new boys Burnley want to sign Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville this summer, according to The Mirror.

Writing on their live transfer blog (5 August, 12:00), the newspaper report that Vincent Kompany’s side are considering making a move for the Dutch forward after growing frustrated in their attempts to sign Sunderland forward Jack Clarke.

Summerville had been expected to leave this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship, but so far no bids have been received.

“Burnley are considering a move for Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville,” they wrote.

“Vincent Kompany and Co have been frustrated in their attempts to sign Jack Clarke from Sunderland this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options.

“And they are ready to switch their sights to Elland Road star Summerville, who has been linked with a move away following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.”

Nightmare

There’s no doubt that Summerville will have been one of the players that Leeds were expecting to have to replace this summer after we got relegated, and the lack of interest has been somewhat surprising at this point.

The likes of Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord and Crystal Palace have been linked but nobody has made any moves yet, and that’s why he is expected to play in the opening game of the season against Cardiff on Sunday.

But should now lose him with the season underway it would be a huge blow to Daniel Farke and the team to lose a player of such quality with such a short amount of time remaining in the window.

He will absolutely need to be replaced despite the numbers we have in attack, and the club will be hoping to get a more than good fee for him due to his quality and potential. Interest in other attackers like Wilfried Gnonto mean the club have to be aware of this scenario.

It would be a nightmare scenario, but one we should have been preparing for just in case at this point so hopefully we’re ready to act if we need to.
