Brentford plot swoop to sign player set for Leeds exit in January - report

Brentford and Fulham are plotting swoops to sign Jack Clarke in January with the clock ticking on his time at Leeds United, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that Tottenham are set to recall Clarke, 19, from his loan spell at Elland Road as he is not earning enough game-time at the Yorkshire club.

Spurs signed Clarke from Leeds for around £11million last summer but instantly sent the young attacker back on loan to the Yorkshire club.

Since then, he has made just one 19-minute-long appearance in the Championship.

It is understood that Tottenham are now planning to terminate Clarke’s loan deal at Leeds and there is a chance he could make an instant return to the Championship on a half-season temporary agreement.

Brentford and Fulham are both within a shout of winning promotion this season and the two London clubs are reportedly eyeing loan deals for Clarke.

There seems to be nothing that Leeds can do about this and as there are only a handful of games left to play before the January window opens, Marcelo Bielsa is unlikely to be able to change Spurs’ minds over the teenager’s game-time.

It is a shame that we never got to see Clarke that often in his time on loan at Leeds but Bielsa’s decision to overlook him has been justified by the fact that the Whites are second and eight points clear of the chasing pack.

In other Leeds United news, fans are drooling over this “unbelievable” transfer report.
