Brentford eye Archie Gray transfer as new Leeds United exit update emerges
Brentford are among several Premier League sides looking at Leeds United gem Archie Gray this summer, according to Mike McGrath.
The Telegraph journalist reported via X on Saturday (29 June) that the versatile Whites midfielder has been the subject of plenty of interest already this summer, with the Bees the latest club to cast their eye over him.
Gray played a crucial role under Daniel Farke in the Championship last season, making 44 league appearances as Leeds tasted defeat in the playoff final against Southampton.
The likes of Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the 18-year-old this summer as the Whites face a battle to keep him at Elland Road [The Telegraph, 27 June].
Will Archie Gray exit Leeds United in summer transfer window at Elland Road?
Even the most optimistic of Leeds United supporters would have known that the Whites would have a fight on their hands to keep Gray at the club this summer as the teenager’s exploits were never likely to go unnoticed.
Few players take to senior football with as much ease as the 18-year-old who impressed in several roles under Farke last term. It would be a surprise if any of the Premier League clubs hadn’t cast their eyes over Gray.
The advantage for Leeds is that they don’t have to sell the midfielder for a cut price this summer having missed out on promotion. They can try to drive a hard bargain to do all they can to keep him at Elland Road this summer.
If their asking price is met, then they could well have a decision to make around his future. Until then, they can begin to plan for next season knowing that he won’t be going anywhere this summer.
Whether Brentford have the financial power to compete with the European giants also vying for Gray’s signature remains to be seen, but the potential guarantee of game time under Thomas Frank may tempt the youngster.
