Brenden Aaronson's future a lot clearer amid Leeds United and Julian Brandt latest - View
Brenden Aaronson may not like the news linking Leeds United to Borussia Dortmund's Julian Brandt.
The United States international is currently at the World Cup for his nation's hosting event of the tournament, and is hoping for a successful campaign before returning.
Aaronson watched on as the USA smashed Paraguay 4-1 in their opening game of the World Cup, as he'll be hoping to have an impact this time, when his nation takes on Australia this Friday.
The attacking midfielder has been subject to criticism at Elland Road for poor performances to close the season, though he did enjoy a purple match midway through the campaign.
However, it appears that Daniel Farke may have finally come to his senses and realised that in order for the Whites to move forward, they must upgrade in this area.
Leeds are interested in Brandt, which gives immediate insight into what lies ahead for Aaronson.
Brenden Aaronson may finally leave amid Julian Brandt plans
Leeds are exploring a move to sign Brandt, who is set to become a free agent once his deal with Borussia Dortmund expires at the end of June.
The German international has made 48 appearances for his country, and is yet to play for a team outside of the Bundesliga.
There is said to be plenty offers on the table for the 30-year-old, some of which include opportunities to play for Champions League sides.
However, the 49ers know how important the free agent market will be once again this summer, and Aaronson's sale would be able to cover any needed funds to offer Brandt an attractive deal in LS11.
The set-to-be-free-agent registered 17 goals and assists in all competitions for Dortmund last season, which has proved to be the norm for him in Germany.
If Leeds were able to sign Brandt, it would almost certainly end Aaronson's first-team chances at Elland Road, and it could see him move on.
Why Leeds may bring Brandt and another attacking midfielder
Signing a new attacking midfielder was always going to be a priority of Farke's this summer.
However, it was always said that the German head coach was keen on signing someone who could play on the right in the final third, that could also cut in and use a preferred left foot.
Brandt is a right-footed forward, so he doesn't check this specific criteria.
Though signing him on a free would be massive for several reasons, one being that Paraag Marathe and Co. would save money to use on a left-footed attacker, too.
Either way, none of this would be good for Aaronson, who is surely the number one player to try and improve on this summer.
