Brenden Aaronson on verge of Leeds United loan exit, deal to be completed within days
Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson is closing in on a move to Bundesliga side Union Berlin, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The print edition reported (9 July, page 93), that the 22-year-old is expected to join the Champions League side within the coming week after a poor season at the Yorkshire club.
Aaronson joined Leeds just last season where he made 36 league appearances, scoring a single goal.

Another Leeds loanee loss
Leeds have found out the hard way just how consequential their relegation-loan clauses could be. Leeds are set to lose Diego Llorente [Di Marzio], Robin Koch [BILD] and Marc Roca [Mundo Deportivo] on loan deals due to clauses many Whites have in their contract that can see them leave on loan following relegation [Daily Mail].
This not only allows much of Leeds’ best talent to leave the club but also shrinks their transfer budget as they will have to wait until next season before they can move these players on for a fee.

While the new soon-to-be new ownership group, 49ers Enterprises, are expected to be active in the transfer market [Yorkshire Evening Post], it still seems poor business from the club to defer any potential funds to another season.
That being said, not many will miss Aaronson at Elland Road following his poor debut season.
After a strong goalscoring spell at RB Salzburg, the American moved to Leeds for a reported £24.7million [Sky Sports], but he failed to live up to that price tag and the club are likely to make a loss on the player.
While Union Berlin reportedly has the option to buy Aaronson following the loan [Florian Plettenberg], it is unlikely to be near the fee Leeds paid in May last year, and the German side is under no obligation to buy.
With just a single goal, that came from a forced Édouard Mendy error, he will look to reboot his career at Union Berlin in their Bundesliga and Champions League bids.
