Bournemouth have £18.9m buy option for Leeds United loanee Luis Sinisterra

Luis Sinisterra has an £18.9m buy-option in the deal that saw him join Bournemouth from Leeds on deadline day, according to Pipe Sierra.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (16 September), the Colombian journalist reports that Sinisterra underwent his first training session with the Cherries today since his move.

And he also revealed that Bournemouth can make his loan move a permanent one for €22m (£18.9m) next summer if he impresses with his performances.

“First training session for Luis Sinisterra (24) as a new player for Bournemouth,” he wrote.

“The Colombian winger visited the Vitality Stadium today. He arrives on loan from Leeds until June 2024 with a purchase option for €22M (£18.9m).”

That would be a weird deal on Leeds United’s part to agree to losing one of your best players on loan on deadline day, with an option to buy for less than you paid for him.

Leeds spent around £21m to sign the Colombian from Feyenoord and he was one of the better performers in the Premier League when we were relegated, but injuries were not kind to him.

He started this season well too with a goal against Ipswich in the 4-3 win but he seemingly burnt his bridges with the club when he refused to play as he wanted to leave, although it was believed that was solved when he brought back into the fold.

Leeds obviously were worried about the legal implications of keeping him and so agreed to a loan exit, but the buy option if included would surely be more beneficial to Bournemouth than Leeds if these terms are true.

We’ll have to wait and see if it comes to light, but this makes a bad deal worse for the Whites.

In other Leeds news, 49ers investor expected one Whites star to be the “first out of the door” this summer.
