Borussia Moenchengladbach expect to pay eight-figure fee to sign Max Wober from Leeds United
Borussia Moenchengladbach are expecting to pay an eight-figure fee to sign Max Wober permanently from Leeds United this summer, according to Gladbach Live.
Writing on their website (18 April), the German news outlet reported that the Austria international is wanted permanently after a successful loan this season but the Whites’ €17m (£14.5m) asking price is proving difficult for them.
However, while there is hope that Leeds could come down a little in negotiations, the expectation is that Gladbach will have to pay a minimum of £10m to get a deal over the line.
“This is clear from the fact that Gladbach has not yet been deterred by the economic circumstances of a possible Wober deal,” Gladbach Live wrote.
“Because there will be no way around the fact that the foals will have to pay a double-digit million fee for him. It is conceivable that Leeds will give in a little in the course of the negotiations – but an eight-figure transfer fee always represents a risk for Borussia, especially in the financially tense situation of the past few years.”
Leeds United surely expecting to sell Max Wober
During the summer transfer window last year, Leeds were expecting and hopeful of keeping Wober at the club until a deal happened at the back end of pre-season.
Daniel Farke was then left to pick up the pieces because of how the deal came around, and the team have got the best defensive record in the Championship now.
With promotion to the Premier League very much on the cards with just three games remaining in the regular season, the club must be planning for the new year with loanees’ futures being considered.

Wober was quick to move on, and he has become an important member of the team at his new club while Leeds have replaced him well and want to sign Joe Rodon permanently also.
Whether there is Premier League football or it’s still Championship football at Elland Road next season, Wober surely won’t be part of the squad and if Gladbach don’t pay up then someone else will.
In other Leeds news, one journalist has tipped this Whites ace to leave Elland Road after what happened in March.
