Borussia Dortmund want to sign Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville as £88.4m transfer development emerges

Borussia Dortmund are in the hunt to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville as they look to spend the £88.4million they’ll receive from selling Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, according to BILD.

The German newspaper reports on their website on Friday (8 June) that Dortmund are set to spend up to 65 per cent of that fee (£57.4m) on signing new players, meaning sporting director Sebastian Kehl can “finally go on a shopping spree”.

It is understood that Dortmund are long-term admirers of 21-year-old Summerville, who has a market value of £10.3million.

However, BILD adds it’s unclear whether Leeds are prepared to cash in on the Dutch attacker, who had a decent season in the Premier League as the Whites were relegated.

Keep him

When you look at the Leeds squad right now, you look at players who are likely to leave because they’re good, likely to leave because they’re bad and likely to be a massive asset in the Championship.

We feel that Summerville falls into the latter category.

The 21-year-old scored four goals and supplied two assists in 28 Premier League appearances last season with those four goals incredibly coming in consecutive games against Fulham, Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham before the World Cup break broke his momentum.

Summerville is the kind of player who’d light up the Championship.

He may not be ready to shine in the Premier League on a regular basis just yet; a loan move away from Elland Road last summer may have been ideal for him.

But if he stays, we think he could be a Championship player of the season contender based on what we’ve seen in flashes in the top flight.
