Bielsa wants two new signings this week, Leeds could turn attention to in-form 23y/o – report
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa wants two new signings before the international transfer window closes on Monday, according to the Sun.
The newspaper claims that Bielsa wants to sign a new winger and midfielder but the Whites are “trapped in a frustrating waiting game” over Manchester United ace Daniel James.
It is understood that Leeds will have to abandon their hopes of signing the 22-year-old if Man United fail to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
If that happens that the Yorkshire giants will set their sights on signing Ryan Kent from Rangers instead.
Kent, 23, has been in stunning form for the Scottish Premiership side this season, scoring five goals and supplying five assists in 10 appearances across all competitions and only one player has scored more goals than him in the Scottish top-flight.
Leeds have already made an attempt to sign Kent.
Steven Gerrard confirmed last month that he turned down an offer from the Premier League club for the ex-Liverpool attacker.
Leeds are yet to return with a new bid for Kent but if their pursuit of James reaches a halt then you’d imagine the Whites will table a new offer for him over the course of this week.
Leeds cannot sign players from outside of England after next Monday so a deal for Kent will have to be made a top priority if Man United don’t land Sancho from Germany.
But we don’t really see that happening, therefore we don’t see a deal for James happening either.
It is very much on the cards that Kent will be Bielsa and Victor Orta’s top target over the coming days.
