Bielsa wants 15-goal South American striker from German club – report

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has set his sights on a number of South American players ahead of next season, according to Al Aire Libre.

The Chilean news outlet claims that the Whites are eyeing up Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and Fenerbahce midfielder Mauricio Isla.

It is understood that several Argentine’s are wanted by Bielsa. River Plate’s Lucas Martinez Quarta, Racing Club’s Matias Zaracho and Tottenham’s Juan Foyth are among them, as well as Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, 22, has helped fire Stuttgart to promotion back to the Bundesliga this season by scoring 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

He has done so well in the second-tier of German football this term that he was awarded with his first three caps for Argentina from October onwards, playing in big matches against Brazil and Uruguay.

Since helping Stuttgart go up, the Bundesliga website has done a feature of Gonzalez which compares him to Real Madrid legend Raul, saying the Argentina international has “the pace, finesse, intelligent movement and classy left foot” that the Spanish icon had.

Would we like a young, in-form Argentina international who has been compared to one of the top European forwards in the last few decades? Obviously, the answer is yes.

It remains to be seen how much Stuttgart will want for Gonzalez and how much Leeds have to spend this summer but if they can get out of buying Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig, the former River Plate centre-forward is certainly someone who we’d like to see at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, there’s a big chance this loan star will stay at Elland Road next season.
