Benfica to accept £21.6m bid as Leeds hunt August transfer deal

Daniel Farke’s search for a new midfielder has led Leeds to Florentino Luis this transfer window.

The Benfica midfielder has been a highly important player for the Portuguese giants for multiple seasons and has won numerous trophies.

Leeds are looking to bring Luis to England ahead of their new Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old has impressed in Portugal and could help harden the Yorkshire club’s defensive resilience.

Now, the transfer saga has progressed further as the start of the new season edges closer.

Benfica want £21.6m for Luis

Leeds’ pursuit of Luis has emerged thanks to Benfica’s signing of Richard Rios.

With the two stars both playing in the same position, it is believed the Portuguese side are willing to part with Luis.

As a result, Record (31 July) has claimed that Benfica are looking to get £21.6 million for the 25-year-old this summer.

Everton, Leeds and Burnley are all believed to be interested, with the outlet confirming that several approaches from England have been made.

However, as it stands, no clubs have come forward with a fee close to what Benfica is demanding for Luis.

Leeds should take risk on Luis

For just over £20m, Luis is certainly a risk Leeds should look to be taking.

The midfielder has been excellent in Portugal and has proved himself to be an astute defensive player in the centre of the pitch.

Given how important it is to have a good defence in the Premier League, adding Luis to the squad would only strengthen their survival chances.

Hopefully, Farke will look to give Benfica the fee they are asking for over the coming days to ensure the 25-year-old is a Leeds player for the first game of the season.
