Bamford exit: Leeds expectation revealed on YEP amid certain Blackburn interest

Leeds United expect to keep Patrick Bamford beyond the deadline day despite interest from Blackburn Rovers, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper reported via their website on 2 February that the Whites do not plan to let their third-choice striker go as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

This is despite Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace admitting his interest in signing the former Chelsea ace last Monday, 27 January.

Patrick Bamford exit shock impending at Leeds United?

Bamford is hardly an important part of Daniel Farke’s plans this season, having accrued just 123 minutes of Championship action so far.

The one-time England international has left on the fringes of the Leeds United squad this term, with injuries certainly not helping his cause.

Meanwhile, Joel Piroe has established himself as Farke’s first-choice striker, while Mateo Joseph plays second-fiddle to the Dutchman.

It appears Bamford is unlikely to play a significant role in the West Yorkshire outfit’s bid to earn automatic promotion in the second half of the season.

Therefore, there is an argument to be made in favour of the Elland Road outfit sanctioning an exit for the 31-year-old before the winter transfer window slams shut on Monday, 3 February.

However, it seems Farke does not want to take any chances and is prepared to keep the experienced centre-forward in his squad for the reminder of the season at least.

It now remains to be seen if Bamford can recover from his hamstring injury and chip in with important contributions between now and the end of the season.
