Marseille striker Bamba Dieng is set to jet into the country on Thursday to complete a move to Leeds United, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on deadline day (1 September, 12:21pm) that Dieng, 22, is set to undergo a medical with the Whites and finalise personal terms ahead of a £10million-plus transfer.

It is understood that Fulham had looked at signing Dieng earlier this summer with the Senegal international yet to feature for Marseille this season.

Race against clock

It’s likely that Dieng will be jetting into the UK from France so it should not take him too long to make his way over the English Channel and up to West Yorkshire.

Other than getting him into the country in time and hoping that he passes his medical, it seems signing the Senegalese forward will be no more than a formality.

He’s not been in any of Marseille’s matchday squads this season and only started 11 of their Ligue 1 games last season.

For just over £10million, Leeds are getting themselves some good striker back-up for Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo.

While Bamford returned from injury against Everton this week, Rodrigo suffered a new setback with a shoulder injury.

Dieng has the capability of getting goals from the bench.

Even though he had limited starts last season, he still managed to score seven times for Marseille in the French top-flight.

Dieng got two goals against Monaco and also netted versus Rennes and Strasbourg, who are also decent teams in Ligue 1.

Can he do it in the Premier League?

We’ll have to wait and see but we’re sure the striker will be a better option up front than Daniel James.

In other Leeds United news, we’ve been exclusively told how an Andrea Radrizzani agreement is blocking the 49ers from investing in the club.
