Aston Villa transfer news as scouts at Elland Road to watch Jon Rowe in Leeds United v Norwich
Three Aston Villa scouts attended the Championship clash between Leeds United and Norwich at Elland Road to watch Jonathan Rowe, according to John Percy.
The Telegraph journalist reported via his X account on 25 January that Villa are maintaining their strong interest in the winger who has 12 goals and two assists for Norwich this season.
It is said that Villa are still hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough, but Rowe is another name on their radar after scouts were sent to watch him.
Interest is not a surprise
Leeds will be grateful that of the flying Championship wingers on show at Elland Road, the scouts turned their attention to Rowe rather than Crysencio Summerville who has also been targeted by Premier League sides including Aston Villa this season [Fabrizio Romano, 25 December].
The interest in Rowe from clubs the size of Aston Villa will not come as a surprise to anybody. He is having a brilliant season in the Championship after his injury struggles last season, and beginning to emerge as one of the best players in the division.
While he was unable to have any direct influence on the game at Elland Road, as Leeds ran out as 1-0 winners, Rowe was singled out as Norwich’s star man who would have the potential to cause issues.

His 12 goals and two assists so far have highlighted the Norwich star to Premier League sides, and should they opt to move for him this month, it would serve as a huge blow to the Canaries’ hopes of a push for promotion come the end of the season.
Leeds will let that interest continue while hoping those three scouts didn’t watch anyone in white.
