Aston Villa respond as Leeds United make 11th-hour bid to sign Emi Buendia before deadline

Leeds United are looking to land an attacker on deadline day.

Everyone associated with Leeds is constantly refreshing their phones today in search of fresh updates regarding United’s pursuit for more attacking reinforcements.

Eduard Spertsyan is linked with a move to Elland Road as Daniel Farke’s requirement for an attacking midfielder is evident if the German manager wants to deploy a 4-2-3-1 in the Premier League.

Gus Hamer is another player who was linked, but that move appears to be off the cards as Leeds turn their attention to Aston Villa ace Emi Buendia.

Leeds United’s Emi Buendia bid met with Aston Villa response

Buendia is a name all Leeds fans are familiar with, as the Argentine is consistently linked with a move to West Yorkshire on what seems to be an annual basis now.

However, the never-ending wait to see Buendia in a white shirt seemingly continues, with John Percy reporting that Leeds have had a late loan bid rejected by Villa.

The 28-year-old looks set to stay put at Villa as Leeds again lose out on another Argentinian transfer target, as a potential move for Facundo Buonanotte also collapsed in recent days.

A miserable deadline day continues to go from bad to worse, as it will be interesting to see if the 49ers have enough time to land a marquee signing before the 7 pm deadline.

49ers have bottled it again

Buendia would have been a dream signing for United, but Leeds now have to swiftly move on.

Whilst the 49ers have been linked with quality players who would have undoubtedly improved the side, at some stage, they must be held accountable for consistently missing out on landing these high-profile names.

Buendia becomes the latest on an ever-growing list of names that the Whites have missed out on, and Leeds supporters are forced to open social media and see the likes of Sunderland continue to spend.

If another quality addition is not brought in before the deadline, the 49ers, who have been supported by the fanbase so far, risk creating a toxic atmosphere inside Elland Road.
