Arne Slot holds talks with Leeds United gem Crysencio Summerville over Liverpool move

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has spoken to Arne Slot about a possible transfer to Liverpool this summer, according to Wiebe de Vries.

The Dutch journalist posted on X to say that with PSG and Liverpool seemingly winning the race to sign the Whites forward this summer, Summerville has already had a “personal talk” with the latter’s manager.

De Vries, who has previously worked for ESPN, believes that Summerville’s “new club” will be either the Reds or PSG, suggesting that he is increasingly likely to leave Elland Road in the coming month or so.

United have already seen one major player leave the club so far this summer, with Archie Gray’s £40million switch to Tottenham giving the Peacocks much more control over potential outgoings.

Crysencio Summerville transfer saga to drag on for Leeds United

After his exploits last season, notching over 30 goal involvements on his way to the Championship Player of the Year award, it’s hardly surprising to see Summerville linked with so many clubs this summer [LeedsLive, 17 June].

Potentially playing Champions League football for either Liverpool or PSG would be a massive step up for the Dutchman to make and the lure of such a stage may be too good for the 22-year-old to turn down.

While Gray’s sale to Spurs may have eased profit and sustainability concerns within the club, there’s little doubt that if a significant offer is tabled which Summerville wants to act on, he will leave [David Ornstein, 1 July].

However, with the winger already returning for pre-season training, Daniel Farke will want to know as soon as possible if Summerville is staying, with a bidding war the last thing United need.

Last season’s slow start was largely down to a slow exodus of players, and with more than just Liverpool and PSG keen on Summerville, this is a transfer saga the club need to conclude as early as they can [Alex Crook, 18 June].
