Archie Gray to soon make Big Six move amid £20m Leeds United transfer update

Leeds United teenage sensation Archie Gray could soon be set for a high-profile move to a ‘big six’ club, according to The Sunday Mirror.

On page 72 of their 26 May edition, the report on Gray details how some of the biggest clubs in the world are already tracking him, including Newcastle United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Rated at £20m after a superb campaign in which he has “made senior football look easy” – and could be about to end it with promotion to the Premier League – it’s also claimed a high-profile English club will take a punt on him.

“It only seems a matter of time before one of the Big Six clubs come calling,” the publication read.

“[Gray] has made senior football look easy since forcing his way into the Leeds first team at the beginning of the season.

“He still has years of physical development ahead of him and will only get better with experience and age. Homegrown talents are also hard to come by.”

Archie Gray, the new Leeds United son

Gray is fast becoming the Leeds United faithful’s next adored son at Elland Road.

Still just 18, he has become an integral part of Daniel Farke’s unit either at right-back or in the centre of midfield, and even operated as a number 10 in the first leg of Leeds’ play-off semi-final against Norwich City.

Confident, technically superb and rangy, Gray has clocked up 51 appearances this season, all culminating in Sunday’s Wembley showdown with Southampton.

The youngster has been claimed to be staying at Elland Road this summer in what would be a huge boost for Leeds, regardless of their division next season – Gray would have full backing to excel at Premier League level with the year he’s just enjoyed.

It’s only natural that the top flight and Europe’s big hitters will be sizing up a potential move for the England U21 international, but Leeds have the power to stick to their guns a little while longer with Gray’s current contract – signed as soon as he turned 17 – running until 2028.
