Archie Gray stance on Tottenham transfer emerges as Leeds United exit talks begin

Leeds United teenager Archie Gray is “keen” on a summer transfer to Tottenham Hotspur as the two clubs begin talks, according to Ben Jacobs.

The sports broadcaster reported via X on Sunday (30 June) that Ange Postecoglou’s side are now in direct talks with the Whites to try and finalise a move to sign the 18-year-old following his collapsed move to Brentford.

While no deal has yet been reached, there is an expectation that a deal will be reached to see Gray make the move to North London because the Whites still need to raise funds having missed out on promotion.

Will Archie Gray exit Leeds United for Tottenham in summer transfer window?

It shouldn’t exactly come as a surprise to hear that Gray is interested in a move to Spurs. While he may be Leeds United through and through, the opportunity to play for a club at the top of the Premier League is too good to turn down.

Whether or not the teenager will play week in and week out under Postecoglou, as would have been the case at Brentford, remains to be seen. However, the Lilywhites offer the opportunity to play in Europe and compete for silverware.

If Gray is as keen on the move to North London as has been reported, Spurs should have no issue agreeing personal terms with the 18-year-old and instead the deal will hinge on whether two of the teams can agree a fee.

That was the stumbling block for Brentford as their deal collapsed, but Tottenham should have the financial power to avoid the same issues as the Bees, especially as they are in a strong financial fair-play position.

This deal could move very quickly in the coming hours if all goes to plan.
